spring break projects

We are a few days into Spring Break and so far, so good! No major meltdowns...yet. After our snowstorm on Friday we've had beautiful weather - 60's! Crazy. But on Thursday, more snow!

I'm trying to get to my sewing room whenever I can. I've made 2 Domesticated Skirts from Sew a Straight Line. They are so easy and SO CUTE! Today I must make one for daughter #1 or I'll be in big trouble. I made a couple of changes because we had snow the day I made them and wasn't going to brave the storm for bias tape! I used grosgrain ribbon for the top of the skirts and ties and hemmed the bottom with 2 rows of stitches. Here are a couple of photos.

I'm also going to make some Peeps Bunny Bunting from Dana of MADE. I LOVE this! My kids are HUGE Peeps fans so it'll make for a nice Easter decoration. I'll post photos when I've finished those... must get more felt!

Evelyn's box-pleat skirt

Lately I've been into skirts. I got some great boots for my b-day and they look GREAT with a fun skirt. I have a couple skirts that I love and fit me perfectly and decided that I'm gonna make one! I found my super cool Route 66 fabric and went for it. I used one of my favorite skirts as a pattern and it's not bad at all. Of course, I have to make 2 more for my daughters! This is a photo of Evelyn's. Instead of using one fabric, I used the cute yellow striped pattern inside the box pleat - LOVE IT!

st. patricks day

so, our leprechaun drama continues from last year... Evelyn left a trap for a leprechaun last year. He got angry, left a nasty note and trashed her room! She left another note apologizing and promising to never do it again... forward to this year. Time for bed and Ev freaks out, "I have to set a trap!!!" I reminded her of her promise. She thought about it and decided that it probably won't be the same leprechaun since we moved from CA to CO. Tsk tsk... Sweet little Ella drew a pretty picture for him and wished him "Happy St. Patrick's Day". I warned her! Next morning... bedroom trashed, nasty note and all of Ella's stuff left alone! She was a great sport. I wonder what will happen next year...

blogging, huh?

i'm supposed to be doing a few things right now... i just set up a blog. THAT was not one of the "things to do"! may as well keep on truckin' and figure this blogging thing out... i still have time before it's time to get the monkeys.
